 If you are a blogger looking to make a name and work with bigger brands, but your Google Analytics is not where you want it to be, a host of social media can help you. Social media experts will tell you that engagement is critical, naturally, but the trend now is to move towards more "live" engagement. Step 1: Choose your main tools

The first thing I advise is to work on one tool at a time, take it to a place you feel comfortable with, move on to the next tool you want to use, and then flip back to improve the first one, and so on. You don't want to use every tool available, but pick 5 to use regularly and at least one or two to master. Work to master the tools where you're already getting traction in terms of followers or Google Analytics, or if you're not getting any traction, choose the one that suits you best.

Step 2: segregate your social networks

Google+ (panorama: friendly, optimistic; main focus: green life, family, food )

I am currently repositioning to focus primarily on green life and real food, but here I avoid controversy and share a more inspiring look at the issues in my niches.

Pinterest (panorama: casual; main focus: food, atmosphere)

I make a lot of different boards, but my gluten-free board is more successful so I spend most of my time looking there, although my "Fun for Kids" card is fine too. Essentially, I focus on food, family, crafts, and toys.

Twitter (landscape: everyday, personal, light; Focus anything that interests me)

I use it for everything: entering contests, sharing causes, marketing for clients, retweeting posts that fit my blog, sharing things I enjoy and don't enjoy are discussed on my blog (like live tweets or "The Walking Dead"). I like to say "I'm on Twitter." (In my next post, I'll cover Twitter in depth.)

 Instagram (panorama: casual; attention: family )

This is strictly for sharing family photos. Most of the bloggers I follow do the same. Personally, I prefer to see those kinds of images rather than advertising or marketing, which feels out of place, like all the "body wraps" from Instagrammers.

Now, go through your feeds and choose a perspective and approach for each of them. Dedicate one or more 2 channels to your personal life and keep the rest professional or dedicated to your blog. You can still share parts of your blog on your personal channels, even if you keep it private, but making it public will help you get your name out there.

Step 3: understand your followers

Next, you need to understand how your audience uses each channel. Before deciding how to divide them, see what the people you follow in your niche are using and adapt to that. You really need to keep track of what they are reacting to and what they are overreacting to. Follow their hashtags and visit the parties or online events they attend. Return to their sites for an overview of their blogs. Share about controversial figures in your kingdom and gauge the reactions.

Here's an example of how this works for me: a blogger on food activism, but I'm also a brand ambassador for Silk. While the two may appear to be linked, the audience for one may be opposed to the other. So I keep most of my posts for Silk on my personal Facebook, Pinterest, and G + page, and share them in my regular blogger comment groups, keeping them out of my activist comment groups. This type of targeting allows you to branch out into more topics, even under the same niche.

Step 4: Increase your social networks

Getting traction on Facebook fan pages

I am happy to say that Facebook engagement has improved for me and I have gone up in the range of how often my posts are viewed, the most important part. My weekly post reach went from a handful a week to roughly 1,000 a week, which is roughly 20% engagement, compared to 1% or less, a good number for brands right now. Here's what I've done, in combination with giveaways, to get more traction on Facebook:

Very Frequent Post:

This is my top tip and it has worked wonders when viewing my posts. I post everything humanly possible. The more I post, the more my stream is seen, and the days I don't post much, the less it is seen.

Early Day Post:

The earlier I posted, the better a post was, even before it hit my desk, which is interesting since I'm on the East Coast of the US, it's really early! Take a look at your ideas to see what schedules work best for you, and it will also tell you what kinds of updates work best. You can automate your early posting the night before and then go live in the comments the next day.

Expert Publishing:

Again, it's not just about what I posted, it's about the data that I shared. When I share an article with hashtags and my own comments from someone important, says Robyn O'Brien of "The Unhealthy Truth", the commitment is much better. I am posting about 70% relevant data from experts in my area, and 25% of my posts with just a few of my friends.

Comment on posts and actions:

I try to get involved here by posting something controversial and asking readers what they think or how they react, or how this has affected me.

Use images correctly:

The post that has the most organic engagement for me had a video attached, so I recommend sharing videos on your topic. Also, create the right-sized images. In fact, you can upload a different size image if your blog photo is not correct.

Boost a post:

There is a lot of controversy about this, but if you want to spend $ 5 to boost a post and see what happens, I tell you at least once. Make sure it's a really valuable post! The last one I pushed was a gift and I got 1,000 views from that one-day investment. It's not something you can do on a regular basis unless you're on a big budget, but if your curiosity is the best of you, promote content that you really want to publish, like expert advice or a free ebook you've written. Definitely worth a shot. Take care to follow your guidelines for images and make sure your push is worth it. $ 5 for 1000 views is a great bargain, but for 130 views, not that great.

Tagging Others:

Honestly, I don't do it as much as it should, but it worked well when I met the person and she was an expert or had a large following. If you don't know the person, you may run the risk of being blocked by that user.
